The Legislative Assistant and Office Manager will provide administrative support to several Government Relations senior managers and team members with a focus on corporate legislative and regulatory affairs.

The successful candidate is expected to:

Legislative Related Duties:

  • Collaborate with administrative staff to manage the frequent visits of FS senior leaders traveling to the Washington, D.C. office, coordinating any related scheduling, travel arrangements and meeting materials.
  • Establish relationships with political and community leaders and other local organizations.
  • Attend and report on legislative hearings on several issues.
  • Attend and report on selected congressional and regulatory proceedings.
  • Conduct legislative outreach and advocacy activities, including, but not limited to, representation at meetings with congressional staff, congressional hearings, annual lobby days, and coalition meetings and functions.
  • Represent the company in the legislative, regulatory, and political arena.
  • Conduct background research on various government affairs, policy topics and other relevant legislative matters or proposals.
  • Conduct background research on various state legislative and agency activity.
  • Draft, edit and maintain office communications to include PowerPoint presentations and other documents as needed.
  • Prepare a wide range of materials and briefing books, formatting, proofing, and distributing as needed.
  • Assist in FS PAC tracking.

Office Related Duties:

  • Serve as point of contact for visitors, employees and guests.
  • Screen and distribute calls and correspondence, and respond to routine inquiries.
  • Calendar management, travel arrangements and prepare expense reports as needed.
  • Operate office equipment, such as fax machine, printers and phone systems; coordinate office equipment repairs as needed.
  • Manage inventory and supply orders, filing and office organization, and other administrative duties as necessary.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, schedules, forms and reports as needed.
  • Work with administrative staff and outside vendors or business partners to coordinate meetings in internal or external offices.
  • FedEx, UPS and USPS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2 – 4 year’s campaign or congressional office experience required.
  • Lobbying, regulatory affairs and Capitol Hill experience or associated work preferred.

  • Administrative experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, required.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide updates to and solicit feedback from supervisors and colleagues as needed.
